‘Best Artist 2009’, a gorgeous singing program summarizing the most active artists of the year, was aired a few days ago. KAT-TUN and ‘Shuji and Akira/修二と彰’ performed in the program and it seemed some secret episodes happened…
‘I attended Best Artist 2009 a few days ago! Shuji-kun (referring to himself as Shuji in drama series “Nobuta wo Produce”) sang a song! When Akira-kun (Yamapi in Nobuta…) and I mistaken the timing of the turn, and got ready to end the song, ♪music began again ♪the music started (tears). We are good amigo (friends) but sorry!!!’
Several Johnny’s Jimusho idols will participate in a television mini-drama project on Fuji TV. Titled “0 Goushitsu no Kyaku,” the show will consist of six stories, each lasting for a month. The weekly episodes will be 15 minutes long.
The drama is set in a city hotel called Point, where there is a strange “Room 0” that can reveal one’s “grade” as a human being. Various guests with different circumstances visit the room, hoping to determine their own worth.
With boy band NEWS hosting this year’s annual “24 Hour Television” program on NTV, member Ryo Nishikido (24) has been chosen to star in the telethon’s customary drama special. Ryosuke Yamada (16) of Hey! Say! JUMP has also been cast in the show.
The drama is titled “Niini no Koto wo Wasurenaide” and is based on a book by writer Masumi Kawakami. Nishikido plays a young man named Keisuke Kawai, who aspired to become a physicist since he was young. His hopeful parents send him to an expensive college prep school, but at the age of 15, during his third year of junior high, he is diagnosed with a brain tumor. Told that he only has one year to live, he falls into despair, giving up on treatment and even lashing out against his own mother. Ultimately, with the support of his family, he struggles with the tumor for eight years before dying at the age of 23.
Keisuke’s younger brother will be played by Yamada, while his parents are played by Hitomi Kuroki (48) and Takanori Jinnai (50). Yumi Shirakawa (72) plays the grandmother.
“24 Hour Television” is going on the air on August 29-30. “Niini no Koto wo Wasurenaide” will be broadcast on the night of August 29.

Nikkan Sports has finished announcing the winners of its 12th annual reader-chosen Drama Grand Prix. The awards cover the period from April 2008 to March 2009, with the final nominees consisting of the top five from each season.
The TBS thriller “Maou” was voted Best Drama. Arashi leader Satoshi Ohno picked up the title of Best Actor, impressing fans with his acting in that series. Meanwhile, Best Actress was won by a wide margin by Aoi Miyazaki, who starred in the hit taiga drama “Atsuhime.”
NEWS and Kanjani8 member Ryo Nishikido was the top choice for Best Supporting Actor, having played the violent and possessive boyfriend in Fuji TV’s “Last Friends.” Juri Ueno also picked up Best Supporting Actress for the same drama series.
NTV has announced that its annual charity telethon “24 Hour Television” will have popular boy band NEWS as its main personalities this year. Now in its 32nd year, the telethon has featured Johnny’s talents for seven years straight.
This year’s telethon will be at Tokyo Big Sight instead of the usual Nippon Budokan. The event, whose theme is “START! ~Ippo wo Fumidasou~,” will be held on August 29-30.
Kami no Shizuku (神の雫)
NTV, Tuesday 10:00pm, premieres January 13
The popular manga “Kami no Shizuku,” created by Tadashi Agi, comes to life in this live-action adaptation. KAT-TUN’s Kazuya Kamenashi takes the lead as a young man whose father, a world-famous wine critic, suddenly dies. His father leaves behind a wine collection worth a fortune, but in order to obtain it, he must solve a challenge left by his father to find 13 wines. However, he has no real experience with wine, and his rival is his adopted brother, who happens to also be a prominent wine critic.

This show is based on Motohiro Kato’s detective manga “Q.E.D. ~Shomei Shuryo~.” Kana Mizuhara (played by Morning Musume’s Ai Takahashi) is a cheerful and energetic high schooler. One day, a boy named So Toma (Aoi Nakamura) transfers into her class, but it turns out that he’s a genius who graduated from a prestigious American university at the age of 15, leading Kana to wonder why he’s attending her school. One day, the pair come across a murder scene, and they end up becoming a crime-solving team, along with Kana’s policeman father (Ken Ishiguro).

Hissatsu Shigotonin 2009 (必殺仕事人２００９)
TV Asahi, Friday 9:00pm, premieres January 9
This show marks the return of the jidaigeki series “Hissatsu Shigotonin,” which has had several seasons between the 1970s and the 1990s. The franchise came back in 2007 with a one-shot special, but this is its first full season since 1992. Makoto Fujita returns as the protagonist Nakamura Mondo, one of the “shigotonin,” a team of hired assassins. He is joined by Johnny’s stars Noriyuki Higashiyama, Masahiro Matsuoka, and Tadayoshi Okura.

Uta no Oniisan (歌のおにいさん)

After a dramatic performance in “Maou” last year, Arashi’s Satoshi Ohno turns to comedy in this series about a young man named Kenta, who loses his band and his girlfriend (played by vocalist Chisa of GIRL NEXT DOOR) but somehow winds up as a cast member on a children’s music show. The series also features Yoshino Kimura as the show’s producer and Kanjani8’s Ryuhei Maruyama.

RESCUE: Tokubetsu Koudo Kyuujotai (ＲＥＳＣＵＥ～特別高度救助隊)

Similar to Fuji TV’s “Code Blue” last year, “RESCUE” is an action-filled series revolving around people saving lives. Yuichi Nakamaru of KAT-TUN plays the lead as Daichi Kitajima, a young man inspired to become a firefighter after a childhood incident in which he was saved by a rescue squad. Now he is aiming to become part of an elite rescue team, along with several other candidates, including characters played by Takahisa Masuda (NEWS) and Yusuke Yamamoto. To heighten the realism, the show is being produced in collaboration with a real-life rescue squad based in Yokohama.
