‘Best Artist 2009’, a gorgeous singing program summarizing the most active artists of the year, was aired a few days ago. KAT-TUN and ‘Shuji and Akira/修二と彰’ performed in the program and it seemed some secret episodes happened…

Kamenashi:

‘I attended Best Artist 2009 a few days ago! Shuji-kun (referring to himself as Shuji in drama series “Nobuta wo Produce”) sang a song! When Akira-kun (Yamapi in Nobuta…) and I mistaken the timing of the turn, and got ready to end the song, ♪music began again ♪the music started (tears). We are good amigo (friends) but sorry!!!’

Buzzer Beat Scoops Multiple Drama Awards; Kusanagi Tsuyoshi Defeats SMAP Members To Win Best Actor

With the new season well on its way, it’s time to announce the results from last season’s dramas.
Fuji TV’s Getsu 9 drama ‘Buzzer Beat’, starring Yamashita Tomohisa and Kitagawa Keiko took in numerous awards, including the Best Drama Award from Nikkan Sports’ 13th Summer Drama Grand Prix and The Television Magazine’s 62th Drama Academy. After his bout of public indecency earlier in the year, Kusanagi Tsuyoshi seemed to have redeemed himself with ‘Ninkyo Helper’. He beat out fellow SMAP member Kimura Takuya and Katori Shingo to win the Best Actor award.

‘Buzzer Beat’ won four awards from Nikkan Sports’ 13th Drama Grand Prix, including Best Drama, Best Actor and Actress Awards for Yamashita and Kitagawa and Best Supporting Actress for Kanjiya Shihori. In second and third place for the Best Drama category were ‘Orthros no Inu’ starring Nishikido Ryo and ‘Ninkyo Helper’ starring Kusanagi. All three dramas had artistes from Johnny’s Entertainment.

Yamapi To Have First Solo Concert; To Release New Solo Single

NEWS member Tomohisa Yamashita (24) has scheduled his first solo concerts, to be held at Yokohama Arena this November. Just before that, he will also release a new solo single, his first in more than three years.

Yamashita’s first single as a soloist was “Daite Senorita” in May 2006, used as the theme song of the drama series “Kurosagi.” The song has sold more than 800,000 copies.

His new song is an R&B tune titled “Loveless.” It will be released on November 18. Then, on November 21-23, he will do a total of five shows at the Yokohama Arena.

Yamapi & Keiko Kitagawa co-star in “Buzzer Beat ~Gakeppuchi no Ho~”

NEWS member Tomohisa Yamashita has the lead role in Fuji TV’s upcoming Monday night drama series, tentatively titled “Buzzer Beat ~Gakeppuchi no Ho~.” His female lead this time is actress Keiko Kitagawa, who graduated from Meiji University’s School of Commerce one year after he did.

The love story has Yamashita playing a salaryman who belongs to his company’s basketball team. Despite his appearance, he is completely weak under pressure when it comes to work and romance. Although he has a girlfriend, Saki Aibu, he falls in love with a spirited and cheerful woman who is unable to be straightforward (Kitagawa).

Shihori Kanjiya plays Kitagawa’s friend, while Hideaki Ito serves as Yamashita’s rival in love. Junpei Mizobata, Nobuaki Kaneko, Miki Maya, and Masaru Nagai are also part of the supporting cast.

Yamashita’s only experience with basketball so far is in classes at school, so he is undergoing special training for two weeks. “Buzzer Beat” premieres in July.

How Do Johnny’s Actors Rank Against… Each Other?

Johnny’s groups dominate many different forms of media here in Japan, including music, television, movies, magazines and more. The popular Japanese search engine ‘goo’ published just yesterday a chart of exactly who ranks highest amongst the Johnny’s actors, and how they compare to one another. For a limited time, the Johnny’s office even linked fans to the site to allow them to vote for their favourites, giving them a real voice in the final numbers.

It may come as no surprise to anyone that the magnificent Kimura Takuya, also known as KimuTaku, came in at number one.”Asunaro Hakusho” has just begun, marking a third chapter in Fuji TV’s fabulous Monday at 9 “Getsu Ku” series in which Kimura has starred, all of which have been huge hits. Kimura can play both light and dark roles, and has shown impressive range in the characters he has chosen to play.

Coming in at number two is Okada Junichi, a member of V6 who shows an entirely new side of himself in the brand new show “Kisarazu Cat’s Eye”. Not so long ago he was playing his first starring role in “SP Keishichou Keibi Bu Keigo Ka Dai Yon Kakari”, in which he showed his ability to play a policeman involved in hand-to-hand fights.
